The Origins of Twin Tigris...

There is a Chinese proverb that says
"Two tigers cannot share the same mountain"

Meaning a single territory
cannot sustain two dominant competitors.
The nature of chess, the spirit of competition.

ONE M

Our mission

We aim to provide Downtown Grand Rapids area with a selection of intellectual events.
We focus on events where the participants are the best part.

Our Story

In 2018 Twin Tigris founder Samuel Memnon-Hilaire, moved to Grand rapids Michigan  from Naples Florida with a passion for thoughtful gatherings.
"Chess came later in life as a way to keep my mind sharp and unwind."
Samuel had been working as a special events coordinator, Dj and host. which led him to combine his love for events and chess.
"I realized many people
were seeking to create culture & community around their spaces. "

"This is an awakening of a life long passion of mine, creating lasting memories and feeding my intellectual curiosity."
Twin Tigris aims to be more than a chess club, with sights on more events that will bring delightful company and creative conversations.
